Windows XP- lsass.exe 60second System Shutdown Problem lsass

I guess I read that a bit too late, of course It probably wouldn't have helped me...
I used UBCD and I guess "INSERT for UBCD", did something, since all I get is "Disk boot error, insert system disk". I can't create one since the computer I'm on now doesn't have a floppy drive, and I assume all data on the other computer is gone anyway... I wish my computer came with an XP disc...

Okay... so I wanted to fix the registry, which lead to the lsass.exe error. I went and tried "UBCD" and that got me "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". I don't have the ability to create a system disk, and I guess (C isn't recognized anymore. I don't even think I have to option to erase the HD if I wanted to... I'm going to need to serious help... or I'm going to have to dig a hole and toss my PC in...

Guys, there is a simple solution to fix the "lsass.exe" and it is made to correct issues such as these.

Windows XP Service Pack 2.

As a past recipient of it, SP 2 kills the error. I know.

Service Pack 2 is free. If you can't find it, ask your local ISP for a copy. Mine give them away to all their users.

HERE IS A SIMPLE SOLUTION OF YOURS TYPICAL/COMPLEX PROBLEM, I HAD TRIED IT ON ONLY ONE PC, I CAN'T SAY IT WILL WORK OR NOT BUT TRY IT, IT WILL NOT HARM YOUR SYSTEM.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO STOP RESTARTING.
1.) OPEN "NOTEPAD".
2.) TYPE :
ECHO SOLUTION OF SHUTDOWN BY RAJEEV BAIRWA
SHUTDOWN -A
PAUSE
3.) AFTER TYPING THESE THREE LINES, GO TO FILE --> SAVE & IN THE FILE NAME FIELD TYPE
"SOL.BAT", THESE DOUBLE QUOTATION IS NECCERY.
4.) THIS FILE NAMED AS SOL.BAT WILL BE URS SOLUTION , I SUGGEST TO SAVE IT TO YOURS
DESKTOP WHENEVER THE PROBLEM APPEARS, RUN IT BY CLICKING ON IT SINGLE OR TWICE AS PER
YOURS SYSTEM SETTINGS.
IT SHOLUD WORK IN WIN2000 FAMILY, I HADN'T TESTED IT YET.

if u r a client or u r not admin or u are not assigned to shutdown/restart the system, then u may get this messege
"A required privilege is not held by the client."
to solve this problem, ask your administrator to do some changes in network settings as follows :

START --> CONTROL PANEL --> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS --> LOCAL SECURITY POLICY : in local security policy :

SECURITY SETTINGS --> LOCAL POLICIES --> USER RIGHTS ASSIGNMENTS :
DOUBLE CLICK ON "SHUTDOWN THE SYSTEM", A DIALOG BOX WILL APPEAR. IN THIS DIALOG BOX, CLICK ON "ADD USER OR GROUP..." & TYPE <user name> (this is the name of the user facing this problem).

after doing this setting u can easily abort the 60 seconds shutdown problem using "sol.bat" file, i had described in my last forum. OR U CAN ALSO USE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1.) START --> RUN --> TYPE "CMD", CLICK OK --> U WILL GOT "COMMAND PROMPT" THERE, TYPE "CD\" TO GO TO THE ROOT.
2.) TYPE "SHUTDOWN -A", THIS WILL ALSO ABORT THE SHUTDOWN PROCESS.
TRY IT & U WILL GET FREEDOM FROM THE LSASS.EXE PROBLEM.

got the same old problem of lsass.exe shutdown. My XP is uptodate and i hav also scanned my PC with latest stinger, Microsoft patches etc. etc.. no Sasser (or any other worm) found but still the window with 60 second shutdown message comes up generally after 15min of operation.

Can anyone help me out please... I m just fed up with this problem

Hi guys,

I recently installed Windows XP Professional on my home computer. I found that my computer keeps restarting every 60 seconds. I just found out that the virus is called [b]LSASS[/b] its basically called LSASS and also known as [b]lsass.exe[/b]. It restarts my computer and in 60 sec & it is unrecoverable error.

I searched for the error on the Internet but have not found a real solutino to the LSASS error and am really frustrated with this lsass problem. I am almost thinking about changing my computer or changing my OS :- (

I want the straightforward solution for fixing this LSASS.exe error. I was thinking of taking my computer to the local computer store I am sure they must have a fix for this [u]LSASS[/u] error? What do you think is that the only option? I have a computer at the office and can download a patch if needed, I even went to the antivirus sites and can not see a real solution.

So again I will really appreciate it if you can guide me to solve this [b]LSASS problem which restarts my computer every 60 seconds.[/b]

i go to turn the computer to come on then it will go to a blue screen and then computer will do a virus scan because the error message will just say "there is an bug on drive c" and then after the scan it will try and put the windows screen on and it will only be on for a second then the computer restart by its self and i have no idea what to do with it have any people got any ideas that could help

This is actually Isass.exe but this virus replace this Capital I with small "L" so you cant differentiate this two process. And its not safe to delete or terminate lsass.exe from your computer. So, call any export and then on their advice remove this virus.

id like to say to the whoever thinks lsass is a virus YOU ARE AN IDI0T
first of all its LSASS not ISASS, second of all, its not a virus, its a windows file that may have been infected or you may have burnt the windows XP cd
what i reccomend is you go to your friends/work computer, and find LSASS on there and copy it onto a floppy or email it to urself (assuming that comp doesnt have the same problem), and then go to ur comp and replace your LSASS with the non infected one. it should be fine

if it doesnt, goto control panel and open up the services thing (you should b smart enough to know all of this that i dont have to walk you through it, unless u think LSASS is a virus, in that case ur an idi0t and u dont deserve to know), in the list, find LSASS, and there should b a choice for it sumwer that says "shutdown on termination" or sometin of that sort, change the options so that it doesnt, once that is done, restart ur comp and u shud b fine

aparently whoever made the virus didnt make it work well, they decided to implement it in LSASS because its one of thsoe services that are almost always running. this virus prolly had a problem (or might have been repaired only halfway thru ur antivirus or w.e) and that causes it to close LSASS, windows automatically gives u 60 seconds to save up ur crap, so it can restart so LSASS can load up again (but windows doenst expect it to hav a virus)

the only other solution is goto run, type "msconfig" (if the file doesnt exist, download it off the internet) and in teh services tab, uncheck LSASS, this will make it NOT open when windows starts, but this may trigger the same problem, so i reccoment u dont use it (or do it at ur own risk, i dun wanna b responsible for ur clumsyness)
