I am using Mozilla Thunderbird for my email with both Yahoo and Hotmail. Here is the deal... normally Yahoo does not allow pop3 mail access unless you have the Yahoo premium service. Thats why Outlook keeps asking for a password and never connects. I used to use Outlook as well and this is why I switched. Thunderbird has a plug-in called YahooPops that "tricks" the yahoo server into thinking you are logging in. It does run in the background continuously however so it takes up a small amount of memory. This was a small price to pay for me to use Thunderbird and have 3 email accounts all in one inbox. Once you install YahooPops, you have to go into account preferences in Thunderbird and use "localhost" for the server name. This is what accesses the YahooPops program. There is no need to enter pop3 or smtp addresses because it is built in the YahooPops plug-in. For hotmail, I am using pop3.hot.com for the server name and it is working fine as well. And Thunderbird has the option for all of your mail to be delivered to a global inbox or separated into each individually. Hope this helps! |

| sorry to spoil it guys, but the pop3hot server has a stupid 15 day trial but then you have to pay for it after that. i am currently desperately searching the net trying to find another way of getting access to hotmail thru our TAFE here in townsville australia. |

| Neo - 4UrInformationz wrote: | Hey, for hotmail, there is not pop or smtp servers, you have to use the HTTP option in your outlook express. The link is
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
You can avoid having to go into hotmail.com and avoid all of the annoying ads.
Hope that clears up something.
There are yahoo mail servers, but when you try to use them you will get an email in your inbox about "Yahoo has detected" that you attempted to use the pop access, sign up for yahoo yada ada and pay some some per year to get pop access. |

| Neither Hotmail nor Yahoo allow access to free email accounts. They figure that they need to bombard you with popup adds when you sign in to check your email. |
