This might be a safer way to disable Dump Reporting DUMPREP.EXE -

1) Right click on “My Computer”
2) Choose menu item “Properties”
2) Click the “Advanced" tab
3) Click the “Error Reporting” button
4) Set the “Disable error reporting” checkbox to checked/ON
5) I recommend setting the “But notify me when critical errors occur” checkbox to checked/ON, but that is optional

Good Luck

Hello, I have a small problem with dumpreg.exe on my computer.

I have recently installed my Starcraft game on my new computer and there seems to be a problem. After installing the game i tried to start it, and after 5 seconds of blackscreen, my ZoneAlarm alerted me that Starcraft is trying to gain access of dumpreg.exe and then i pressed allow and the computer froze.

The only thing i can do at that time is close starcraft with task manager and also close dumprep because it's using 99% of my CPU.

I have searched the net for solutions, also been on the microsoft page and tried to take it away from "startup on msconfig" and delete it from the windows registry but the thing is that it does not appear in neighter of them so i cant fix anything that is not there.

That is why i write here, thanks.

Hi Voomy,

hope you've sorted it by now. if not deleting the 'prefetch' file often helps. Along with going throught he windows registry of all .exe files and looking for any files with a date on the day when you believe the problem started. dumprep used to start off loads of callback proxy on mine to hog alll the cpu, and getting rid of the prefetch file worked. Very Happy

How to disable dumprep.exe:

Right click on “My Computer,” choose “Properties” from that menu.

Click on “Advanced tab,”

Click the “Error Reporting” button.

Check the “Disable error reporting” box.
You may choose to uncheck the the box below it, “But notify me when an error occurs,” if desired.

BADA-BOOM BADA-BING, it's such a wonderful thing, the annoying dumprep.exe tool is now disabled! Smile
