I'm having a problem similar to one you've already answered.
Basically I opened outlook as I normally do to find that all old emails, all account details and all identities had been wiped.
And yet but some strange twist of fate all email contacts were preserved in the address book.
Now I've replaced the account details and I read the answer on the first page and indeed found that the maintence settings had been changed. But I cannot find any .dbx type file that might contain any backup. Is there any chance of retrieving the lost emails? And whether there is or is not does anyone have any idea what might've caused this to occur?
Also before anyone mentions it - no I did not create a new identity or a new windows account, I'm using the same XP account that I have used always - it's the only one in fact.
I'd really appreciate it if some one could shed some light on this as it is driving my bloody crazy.
Do you want to recover your deleted emails from your outllook? If yes then one que I have that do you have any mails in your outlook's deleted mail folder. if this folder have such emails then you can take back up of such emails.
If you don't find any .dbx files means you didn't take any backup of outlook emails in future, so you can't recover it. for taking back your old emails, you must have backup of your old emails. If not then, Sorry to say that it is impossible to taking back your old deleted emails.
for test it, you have to create your new identity & then import your emails in it. Before importing, you have to export your emails then import it in new identity. please find .dbx files in c:\ programfiles or c:\windows.
I am currently running outlook express 6.0 on a windows 98se platform. All my email messages appear blank when opened; however, when checking the message source through the properties, I can still view the message in plain text. How can I remedy this problem? Thank you.

I have purchase a brand new machine in few days ago.and now, I am unable to open attachments in email with outlook. How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Just disable your "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option under tools-> security tab
When I open OE to get my mail only 29 emails are received but there are more that wont receive. I have tried shutting it down and trying it again but it still receives the exact same 29 emails again and still wont complete. Its weird because I delete these 29 emails and they keep coming back and I cant get the rest of my mail
I'm trying to set up a mailing list but when I add too many to the Bcc: I get this.
Quote:
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'madeupaddress@hotmail.com'. Subject 'New Newcastle gig', Account: 'customermail2.easily.co.uk', Server: 'customermail2.easily.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 4.5.3 Too many recipients', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
Surely Outlook Express should be able to send the mail to more than 8 recipients? I'm Bcc they addresses individually, is this right or is there another way?
I'd appreciate the help as I'm slowly losing my sanity.
I am getting disconnected after sending and receiving email. What is the problem and how to fix it?
Any suggestion Please!
Check if option to hangup is turned on.
Open Outlook Express, main menu Tools/Options/Connection
Now uncheck "hang up after sending / receiving". That should do the trick.

The problem is not in Outlook Express itself. It CAN send very much mails in BCC. But your SMTP server is configured so that it rejects such mails. Therefore you can do 2 things: 1-install your own mail server locally (i don't recommend this) or 2-simply split this mail you're trying to send into few mails with max. 8 recipients.

There are more mails you need to receive. Probably someone sent you a very large mail and you have to wait for a long time until Outlook Express progress bar moves. Just take a cup of coffee and wait. If it doesn't move after 15-20 minutes then it is something else
Besides, OE deletes mails on the server ONLY AFTER it receives ALL mails. Therefore, as you stopped receiving of those long mails - OE keeps on receiving first 29 mails which are probably very short compared to the last long one.
