I dont think this will cause any problem if you are using outlook express on the same computer with MS outlook. I want to know which error msg you get when you try to fetch your hotmail msg. If you give the error msg then i will exactly give you the reason.

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'madeupaddress@hotmail.com'. Subject 'New Newcastle gig', Account: 'customermail2.easily.co.uk', Server: 'customermail2.easily.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 4.5.3 Too many recipients', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
Surely Outlook Express should be able to send the mail to more than 8 recipients? I'm Bcc they addresses individually, is this right or is there another way?
I am having the same problem trying to send out mail to larger groups, even though I was able to before I cant seem to anymore, can u help.
Sue
I'd appreciate the help as I'm slowly losing my sanity.
This may help to fix outlook express error no : 0x800CCC79

Re: can't connect to pop3 server

I have a friend having problems connecting to pop3 server with OE6. I downloaded netscape and set up mail with the same settings. I was able to connect and get mail without a problem. I have a similar problem on my own computer. I can connect to get email, but sometimes when I try to get more emails while OE is still open, I get the same problem. It asks if I want to wait to connect to server. Both machines are running XP home with sp2. Both computers are using same ISP. I read that it might have something to do with the antivirus program. My friend is running mcafee and I am running ez-antivirus. I plan on trying to access mail while disabling mcafee. I will also try running msconfig and try shutting down programs to see if they are effecting OE. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I was also thinking of deleting the account in OE and then trying to set it up again. I am also just thinking of installing outlook and setting up account. Is Outlook better than OE? I just wanted to get some ideas before I try to fix the problem. The problem on my machine I can live with. I can still access my mail, but my friend has to access his mail by using the web. I appreciate any help. Thanks!
I have a similar problem, I have a sub on account on a second PC, connect by wirless router to the internet. I can send e-mails okay but server times out when receiving.
I have tried rebuilding the account and still the same. If I build the account on the main PC it works okay. So at the moment have to use the web to pick up these e-mails. I tried a different e-mail client and still the same problem, so I am pretty much stuck
You dont have any problem in receiving and sending mail on main computer, right? I think the problem may be in configuring your SMTP address. As it works fine on main PC and create problem on another the problem must be in configuring your account.
Make sure you have specified correct server address.

Re: help ASAP OE6 problems!!

I just turned on my computer and all of a sudden I am having problems with oe6. It is telling me when I try to open my address book, it is saying: Unable to open address book. The address book may be installed properly. And, when I hit "create mail", it says: There is an error opening this page. Does anyone have any idea what is going on. I am a graduate student that is depending on this program and the information stored in it to finish my research. Help ASAP!!! Thanks
I am currently running outlook express 6.0 on a windows 98se platform. All my email messages appear blank when opened; however, when checking the message source through the properties, I can still view the message in plain text. How can I remedy this problem? Thank you.
Hello Friends, I have a similar operation to the above, but, when people recieve my International Emails all they get are what are apparently a couple of Cyrillic (russian) characters, a Y&B... Nothing else, The Outbox shows the mail has been sent... My Daughter is over seas at the moment and communication is now by Tellingbone... Hi,gh Bill...
HELP! About a week ago i suddenly couldn't receive emails on my OE account? I deleted a huge number of emails thinking it might clear up more space and the next day it worked, i rec'd more emails. THEN, a week goes by and i can't recieve any anymore? I can send emails but cannot receive. Anyone know if this is a common problem? I haven't changed anything with OE since i started using this so this prob basically just came out of nowhere???
Thanks in advance for any help.........
Rock....thanks for your reply and suggestion. I will check out that link and see what i can find. I will def let you know whether i'm successful or not. It's strange though. I've been using Norton for six months, problem free (actually was using it for 2 years on my previous comp as well) with OE and suddenly it's just rec'ing that i can't do? I can still send emails.......
Anyway, thanks again, will report back when i get a chance to check it out!
rock....thanks for the effort, but it didn't work. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the Norton product to no avail! Most things i've seen deal with inability to send AND receive but my problem is just receiving!!! I can send them no prob! Anyway, thanks again, i'll see what else i can find out.....
I think your problem is very critical. I think the main problem is not in your Outlook Express but the problem with your POP3 Server. I suggest you to contact your ISP provider and ask them for help. As you stated that you didnt change any setting in Outlook Express than your problem dont have any concern with OE. I am suggesting you to contact your ISP Provider for help.
Figured it out! I found the following on another site and it solved my problem. The person asking for help on that site used yahoo but it worked the same for me using my ISP account. Assuming my inbox had some sort of corrupt file? Anyway, here's the info i found......
1 - Backup/Save your email messages to a folder somewhere on your drive. you can do this simply by dragging and dropping the emal to a folder. The files saved will have a .eml extension
2 - Click on Tools=> Accounts and delete all your email account(s).
3- Delete any and all rules that you may have created
4- Close Outlook Express (this step is important)
5- Using Windows Explorer go to the folder where all your messages are saved and delete all the Files in that folder. Don't wory OE will create them again the next time you run OE. The deafult message folder is usually located in "C:\Documents and Settings\Your_User_Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{60893DE6-55E9-4C0E-A843-EB87F0FCF58A}\Microsoft\Outlook Express" or something similar
6 - You'll have to now add your Yahoo! account back to OE.
7- The .dbx files will now be recreated and any new mail will end up in the "Inbox" folder by default.
8- Drag and drop the all of the .eml files that you backed up in step 1
9- That should do it!
Thanks to those who tried to help....figured i'd post this here and maybe it'll help someone else who runs into this problem???
