Does anyone know if there are any security issues related to wireless? How vulnerable is wireless internet to illegal or malicious interceptions?

Hi Buddies,

I have two computers One is wireless & other have DLINK DI-624 wireless router. I just finished its setup on my computer, but lower signals. I done a speed test & it come 2.2 MBPS.I want some advice for that.
Do I enable WEP? Should I have a firewall on the PC, which has wireless router?

Bye.

I’m not a Wireless expert but I run same setup software for my friend – Jimmy. It works well on his computer & located 600 feet apart from the router & using 16MB YAGI Antenna. When he connects with router, its speed is around 70% & easily connects. I never tried the WEP but I say that there might be some simple key, which set to be correctly to gain maximum Internet access.

Hi Guys,

I use D-Link Super G, which gave 40MB/sec when both wireless network computers are very close to each other. So in your case 2.5 MBPS is very low on that. I know that like software firewall the Router firewall is also available & very limited use of its to compare Internet Junk. There is some information that is very useful to get higher speed on wireless Network is as under, please go through it….
Extending the Distance of Entry Level Wireless Network.
Thanking you very much.

The DLINK DI-624 supports Super G. Make sure that it is enabled.
I think that it makes your LAN weaken.
What I do now?

I checked on my computer and I disabled the Super G on my default router. First you enable WEP and use 64-bit HEX key. Check the configuration settings on the wireless computer & router. Both having same code. That causes the lose connection that shows that you enabled low end security. If connection is OK, stop distribution of SSID. It is due to that the Wireless computer will not detect your wireless LAN.

Thanks,
