Hi Guys,
I use Comcast High speed Internet via Cable on my Windows XP System. When I run IPConfig, I get 169.254.x.x and when I run IPConfig renew, I get error message Unable to renew IP Address. My PC communicates whit DHCP Server. I checked with all settings or suggestions given by Comcast suppor to me, but the problem not fixed.
Please help me

| When you want renew the IP Address, type ipconfig/renew or ipconfig renew all. if you type ipconfig/? , in the prompt, it gives the whole options to you. Make sure that no connection available in startup, delete the connection you have, now make every thing to autoconfig. It will speed up and will work fine. I did this on both my PCs. |

Hi joe,
I have no connection at startup & how do I delete the connection when everything is autoconfig. To get IP Address, in the network properties, enable obtain IP Address & DNS Server automatically. Is there any other change in settings that I have to do?
Bye. |

To create a new connection, select the network connections from Control panel. Click on Create new connection. It opens a series of steps that could be followed by you.
Hope your problem is over. |

Hi Guys,
While using Windows XP, I have to uninstall you onboard network adapter. When PC restarts & it identifies & reinstalls the software drivers.
What I do when the IP Address conflicts while signing?
Give me help.... |

Hi guys,
When I switched to cable modem, my settings were wrong & not too much change in it. There are some changes from OS while optimizing the cable connection. But I didn't see such changes. I think that it makes me slower on internet.
help me..... |

Hi,
I have some solution for your slower speed problem that may help you.
- Click on Control panel > System > Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT).
It displays com port 1 & 2 if you have it.
- Click on Com 1 port & then click on properties > port settings.
Change the port settings to 921600 bit per second and change stop bits to 2 and set the flow of control to x on x to off.
I hope this will solve your problem & you can connect with high speed.
Thank you. |

Hi Fellow,
I get my connection speed with my cable modem supplied by my supplier, I get 38 kbps speeds & I get a speed of 53 Kbps by using new modem. Which is slower than Dialup connection. You can see my speed test result from http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/
Can you help me to getting me higher speed? |
