cable tv through cable modem
if I can hook up a tv off of a jack used for a cable modem ? I don't have cable tv service but if I sign up for cable modem service can I split that to a tv and run both at the same time?
The cable medium is the same whether you connect it to your TV or cable-modem. When I elected to try @home service I thought "Well, if it doesn't work out at least I'll have a connection for TV in here.

it could be done back several years ago, but the cable company has gotten alot smarter and uses a filter to block off cable tv.
the filter is located in the cable box on your street somewhere. pop the filter off.
oh also, Its also ILLEGAL if your trying to obtain free cable tv thru your cable modem.
Does the filter not allow cable TV to come through the line unless you have cable TV access?
If so, what does the filter look like?
I heard cable TV still comes through but they can come and monitor what frequencies you are using and can prove you used cable TV from that. My question for this is how often do they check/prosecute?
