Cable connection queries |
|
|
Hi Guys,
My mom has a network of 2 PC with Net Gear Router. When she uses the connection, some time it drops her and it affects on other computer. Then I unplug the router and reset it which reconnect me to the Internet.
I don’t understand why it’s dropping.
Can anyone get me the solution? |

You have the both network cards are onboard. I think that the cables are new. I don’t have a single problem when Both PC has Windows XP on it. When I have Windows 2000 Professional on one PC, then it keeps dropping me. Is there any other configuration setting that solves this problem?
Thanks. |

| I think that there is a configuration setting that could be done on Windows 2000 Professional computer. But I don’t know which setting I have to do? |

To resolve the dropping cable connection problem, you have to do some settings.
- Right click on My Network Places, and then Local Area Connection.
- Click on configuration and then power management.
- Please uncheck “ allow computer to turn off this device to save power”
- Click on Ok. And restart the computer.

I think that the computer uses the IP Address is 192.168.X.X.
X may be any number in between 1 to 255.
Bye. |

I don’t understand what IP Address you want. The IP Addresses are assigned from the router to connect with the other computer.
Am I right, Guys? |

It is the router configuration that may be about your modem and firewall setup on the LAN with help of router.
I think that there is firmware update of modem driver is also needed for that. |

| I don’t think about the firmware updates. I have to check for the most recent updates and it may be with the router. I tell that there is not a problem of connection droppings. |

Anyone who has a network with 2000 Pro and XP home if you had any experiences with this your advice would be great. Now I believe that I have to switch over Windows 2000 Pro on that computer.
