WOW.. angried student throws her computer into aol's Hq~
I can just see it,
Here are some things that I check for these days when choosing an ISP:
I call it, how to choose your next ISP? Or Thinks to consider when choosing your ISP.
Will I be charged if I go over my hours? If so, say, "Mom says its time for dinner " and hang up!
Is technical support included? If so, is it free? If not, ask them if you are getting charged for the call you made.
How many hours do I get per month? You will be surprised to know the real meaning of unlimited access!
What are your hours for technical support?
24 hour support doesn't make one ISP better over another. 12 hour phone support is the least you will want from an ISP but more important than that just make sure that their hours are around the time that YOU connect or use the internet.
Do I get an email account with my dialup internet account?
If more than 1 email is required, then ask how many are included with your new account. So you are a neat freak who loves to organize all your emails in the correct folder, ex: TRASH, , ask if they provide POP access for your email. So you can go on and use your Outlook Express.
What is your cancellation policy?
This is something that you would think about, just as much, if you were thinking to get married, or for some of us, regretting our decision to get married. . Remeber long term commitment, "sign up for a year and save BIG," may come with cancellation Fees that cost more then your full tank of gas. Find out what methods the ISP requires you to cancel; also how long it takes to cancel your account.
Just do your homework and ask the right questions! Too bad marriage doesnt come with a warning sign..

Other important tips!..
This is what I found on the net, just lying around...
Other important things..
"How professional does the ISP's website look? Does it look like a 3rd grader made it and it belongs on the fridge or is it well layed out with good honest information.
Also, look for the contact information on the website. A well established, reputable ISP will post their office address with contact numbers on their site and make it easy to find.
You may even want to call the office number and just see if someone answers then hang up real quick. Just kidding! Don't hang up, but do call if this will help you decide and ask any questions that you may still have and were not able to get off their website.
Some of the best ISP's out there are the smaller ones as they may answer the phones personally and deal with you directly. These guys make up the bulk of the Internet and account for over 60 percent of all users on the web. Rather than being transferred 14 times in one phone call they will be their for your patronage on more of a personal level."
