email issues
I registered with a internet service provider that does not support pop/smtp. But i have an email address with hotmail and yahoo and want to be able to check it through outlook express. After setting it up, i was given an error message. something about port 25 is blocked. What does this mean? How do i fix this? Will i have to switch to an ISP that supports pop/smtp? Someone help me please.
Three commmon reasons, why you dont receive mail that someone post to you.
First, check your Mail Controls and make sure you are not blocking the person (or blocking everyone). If you are, the person
Trying to send you email should be receiving an error message saying that you are not accepting mail from them. Second, check your Spam Folder to see if messages from your correspondent are being tagged as being junk email. If they are, try adding your correspondent to your Address Book so that future messages will be delivered straight to you. Third, it's possible that your ISP is blocking your correspondent's provider from sending mail because there have been complaints of abuse. If this is the problem, he would be unable to get mail through to any members not just you.
I think pop email allows you to download or transfer you email from your web-based account to outlook express. You have to configure your incoming mail server which is the pop server to receive email. I believe that is what my father told me. You will have to see if your email account have the pop function available in order to use outlook.
'Post Office Protocol' is stand for POP. Most mail servers agree on this method of inter-server communication. Therefore, if you have a POP email address, you can check your email using virtually any email reader you choose: Eudora, Netscape Mail, Outlook Express, Pine, Elm, etc.
No. The OptusNet mail server does not interfere with the mail by blocking Port 25. You can able to send and receive mail as usual. Also you can download mails via Port 110 and send mail to Port 25 on OptusNet mail server. Blocking on Port 25 can’t processes third-party mail and forward it to the OptusNet mail server.
Good luck.
Your mail is automatically forwarded to your forwarding email address if its assigned POP email account. For example if you have a forwarding email address as webmaster @myaccount.com and is assigned to POP email account username@myaccount.com, then you will get email at your “username” account.
To read this email, simply read “username” POP email.
First thing is that you have an account with Telnet access.
Telnet into your domain, i.e. yourdomain.com or yourname.subdomain.com.
Log in under the username and password whose email you'd like to access.
Use the command pine for the Pine mail reader, elm for the Elm reader, or mail for the plain mail reader.
