'Netgear DG632 ADSL Modem Router'
Hello
I have recently registered my Broadband with 'Wanadoo' and have received my 'Kit' and connected up (line not activated yet). The modem supplied in my 'Kit' is the Speedtouch 330 USB ADSL and is connected to my desktop PC thru a USB port.
I purchased a 'Netgear RP614v2 Broadband Router' - which, I now I understand will not do the job that I want - which is to operate my Desktop PC together with my Laptop both on the ineternet at the same time whilst talking on the same telephone line (and so that the Laptop can be on the internet, without my Desktop PC being switched on.)
My question is therefore will the 'Netgear DG632 ADSL Modem Router' do the job I need ? And do I 'chuck out' the ST 330 USB modem supplied to me by 'Wanadoo'?
The NETGEAR DG632 ADSL Modem Router will replace your modem and your router. It will connect directly in the filter in an ADSL phone line, and share the Wanadoo connection. One PC will need USB, the other Ethernet.
thanks for your reply! - you say "One PC will need USB, the other Ethernet" - does that mean I will need any special adapters? - also can both computers be on the same connection type? i.e. both USB or both Ethernet?
The NETGEAR DG632 ADSL Modem Router has one USB port and one Ethernet port, so you will have to connect with one of each. If you already have an ethernet card in one machine, and a USB port on the other, you do need any special adapters.
