Wireless repeaters

I am about to move into a much larger house and think that it is unlikely that a 11g adsl router will be able to cover the whole house .I wanted to setup a broadband wireless network with one hardwired PC, one wireless laptop and one wireless media adaptor. I would prefer an 11g or super g solution.
So,
Do I go for the Buffalo w/lss router with an ethernet modem and a buffalo repeater?
or
The Linksys adsl w/less router and wait for linksys repeaters
or
Can I use some other manufacturer's device to re-broadcast a wifi signal?

It's my understanding that repeaters only work with with their "own" brand w/lss routers.
References to bridging/access points units imply that they have to be hardwired into a network to operate.

Of course, I may find that I don't need a repeater at all, so would like have the option to add those in after initial setup and testing.
