I have a Linksys Speedstream Router for DSL. It works fine...however whenever I download a mp3 sharing program...it won't allow me to connect...and download...if I bypass the router (unhook it)...I can download just fine.

my question is...how (specifically) do I change my router settings or my music sharing software settings (in Limeware...or Kazza) to allow MP3 downloads.??

I am ok with computers...but not very advanced...any help would be greatly appreciated...!!

Chuck

You may have to open ports that the particular program uses depending on the router, tcp view, iptools or an ip logging program will tell you what ports are being used whilst the router is disconnected and downloads working, emule only uses one port.
you should be able to then forward that port to an ip address this however will allow all connections through that port with no filtering apart from software filtering and an alternative solution would be advisable such as playing with settings( when you find the right one it would be a good idea to reset/restore all setings and then change the one that had an effect hoping it was only one, use this as a temporary quick fix if neccessary and make sure you have a software firewall and no sensitive data.
