Help me,I need Wireless Security on my Wireless Network.

Are u an IT Guru or IT person that take me through the step by step for securing my "wireless home network". The Linksys manuals are very have very less details in it. Give me some more details about how to secure my network?

I have win2k PC wired with LinkSysBEFSX41 router, a WAP-11 access-point plugged into my wired BEFSX41 router. The wap11 will and does communicate with a WMP-11 wireless card using Win98se.
It all works fine but concerned about default security. The SSID, the channel and so on confuse me. Can someone put all these security setting in plain English and with steps?

I am not security expert but I can exchange my knowledge with you.
- First lock down the router with a good 8 or more letter and number password.
- Next change the SSID (Short for service set identifier) to a unique word. This is not security but helps in setup. Do this to all connecting computers.
- Next, make sure all connections work and if they do, go to next step if not get working...
These settings should be in the web interface of the router and the access points.
- Next implement the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) set it up with 128 bit encryption stronger is better.
- Use the paraphrase and set it to 10 or more letter and number characters.
- Now you will have to do this to all connecting computers(or wireless access points) or you will get nothing.
When you get these setting implemented and working let us know and we will move on ..
