Telus Adsl, dowdownloads SUCK !

I am running windows XP Home edition and using a Telus adsl internet connection. The problem is that my average download speed is around 40-78kb/sec. I have seen it as low as 4.1kb/sec I use a download accelerator( Get Right) my speed tops out at 151kb/sec. and some times it is as low as 36 kb/sec. i read the post made by nightmaerz and you said telus's average speed was about 150kb/sec. Is there anything i can do to bring my speeds back to normal?

It's true that Telus is basically always at 150K in download speed. I call them the slow & steady provider at least compared to my cable connection
Seriously though, you should always see around that speed with Telus. It is dependant though on the server you are accessing and xDSL speed is also dependant on your distance to the local switch

As far as tweaking your connection goes - it doesn't really make a difference with any of the Microsoft Operating Systems (except for maybe Windows 3.1) because all those operating systems will work fine at 150K Internet speeds.
I've found that Windows 98 tops out at around 300K when in stock trim. If I change the RWIN I can get it up to around 600K. So for all intents and purposes an Internet connection that tops out at 150K doesn't require any tweaking at all.

I would probably re-test your download speeds using these URLS below. Every one of them are fast enough to get you the data at your maximum speed so you'll be able to see what the real bottleneck is;

Windows 2000 Service Pack #4
Windows XP Service Pack 1a
Microsoft SQL Server Evaluation.
