NetZero is very slow
NetZero is *very* slow, probably because of all the trash they download to the system. And their web page design is *extremely* poor. It takes forever to load. I suggest Bluelight.com, except you can only use it for 25 hours per month.

Netzero may not be slow, it may be your computer
People blame their ISPs for nearly every popup that comes up or every slow download. People tend to forget that there are alot of factors to getting online, staying online, using the online. The ISP just provides you the key to the door, it does not control what is beyond that door. Your computer can have hunderds of sypware cookies or dll or even files on it that you may accidently installed it, yet we blame isp for pop ups. Just because netzero used ads on thier banners does not mean that all isps control advertising. Isp is not able to control popups, unless you use somesort of a popup blockers. There are spywares that use your bandwidth when you are online, which slows down your surfing and downloading. You might be trying to access a website which is on a bad server or a slow server or a busy server.
Those are just some factors that pay a factor in your speeds to the internet, so next time you want to blame a ISP for slow speeds, remember, it could be your computer, the website, your phone lines, your phone provider, or just you.

NetZero is very slow
Unlike Robbie above, I'm not going to insult your pc. A fast connection has nothing to do with speed of the pc (memory / processor / hard drive speed) - only the modem.
If the pc itself is running slow, and not the modem - try upgrading memory or change isp. NetZero uses a hell of a lot of memory up with it's Java pop up windows when you log on / off and with the useless "You are currently online" box.
If your memory is okay, maybe it's the fact that NetZero is constantly filling your pc with adverts.
Take a look in the Program Files\NetZero\pool folder. Full of flash and gif adverts and they're always illegally uploading new ads to your pc all the time. If you want to see what I mean, delete everything from it before logging on next time (this is safe), enjoy a peaceful log on, then see how long it takes to fill up with crap again. It won't take long.
The $9.95 a month doesn't seem worth it when they're stealing 6mb of HDD a week, slowly filling your pc with ads you don't want.
The speed of your connection involves many different factors. Not only does it depend on the server into which you have dialed, but also on the speed of any computer from which you are receiving data. If the computer storing the web site you are visiting is slow or heavily loaded, then data transfer to your home PC will be slowed down accordingly. If you find that a site is extremely slow, try again at a less busy time or find an alternate site. If you are having trouble with all web sites being slow, there could also be a configuration problem on your computer.
The telephone lines have a large effect on your dial-up connection -- length, load coils, resistive crosses and taps and other things that do not affect voice quality enough to require repair will adversely affect data speeds. When an analog modem connects that horrid screech/squawk noise is the two modems talking to each other testing the quality of the connection and what maximum speed they can handle over that connection.
