Since 15 days I suffering a problem that my router & my modem not works properly. The modem works fine when it connected with computer via Ethernet device and the wireless router also doing well as expected by its own. When I am trying to connect this two, it don’t want to communicate.

Same problem I also facing, When I turn on the router, it exchanges some sort of data with modem for few seconds. Then the light abruptly goes dead. From the configuration, I see that it does not DHCP server.
What I do next?

I see that all IP’s are dynamic, & the ISP’s IP also same as that they ask. There is some sort of problem with your modem while communicating with modem & router & modem takes plenty of time while communicating each other.
Please try to power off the modem and router for at least 30 sec. Now power up the modem & give time up to 45 sec for warming up. After that plug in the router to modem. Now see that the problem still arrives or not.

Unplug the cable modem. Ensure that the cable from the modem is plugged into your router. Turn on your router & plug in your modem back. Now your router resets and detects a new MAC address. It have to fix your problem.

I worked it sometime but it is good to verify that I’m connected or not. I did it on my SURFboard modem. One thing I told that it takes more time to do it.
Thanks,

My computer assigned IP address dynamically. Could they fetch the MAC ID from NIC through my cable modem? Let me check it & that it the problem or not.

Finally, I got the solution. The router configuration has a little bit confusion that dropped your speed up to 100 mbps to 10 mbps. Everything going smoothly with a capital SMOO. I had no idea to set this one or the other. The router manual doesn’t mention it. I found that by randomly seeing the configuration pages.
