ie 6 repair |

I search on the internet a bit and there really is not much information. I did find one person that suggested the following:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Repair for Windows XP
From the Start menu, select Run.
In the Open field, type sfc /scannow (Note: There is a space between sfc and /scannow)
Select the OK button.
Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
Reboot the computer when System File Checker completes.
I hope this helps... let me know.. this will be a good tip to know if it does.... |

Internet Explorer 6.0 repair |
|
|
| Yes sometimes my internet explorer 6.0 would occasionally "freeze" while I was browsing. Some people suggested the I could have some kind of virus but I wasn't entirely sure. What I just did was run a quick Norton anti-virus check through www.symantec.com and it took care of my problem. I believe it found one file to be corrupted which was the culprit for the problems. My connection through Internet Explorer 6.0 is more consistant and does not freeze anymore. I would also try what hatter said just in case that helps too. |

Easiest way to take care of the issue is to do the windows updates, or install the latest version service pack. These usually solve an IE related issues. You do not have to reinstall windows to fix any IE problems, so do not do that.!! |

Repairing Internet Explorer 6.0 |
|
|
I am not sure of your operating system. I run Windows 98 and use IE 6.0. When needed I open "Control Panel", double click "Add/Remove Programs", select "Internet Explorer" (may have service pack info), "Add/Remove" is then selected, then radio button for "repair" is selected.
The hard part is thinking you are about to remove IE 6.0. You won't unless you choose to.
I am sure XP (if that's what you are using) has a similar setup. The point being to look in the "remove program" arena to find the repair process. Good luck. |

This is wrong. IE does not appear in the XP OS |

You are mistaken, Doing a Windows update will not fix IE problems once it is corrupt. As Brick correctly said earlier Reinstalling Windows is the only fix; if a sytem restore does not work |

IE CAN be reinstalled |
|
|
| Going into the add/remove programs in the control panel, there's an option called "Add/remove Windows Components" where you can choose IE and then uninstall it, restart the computer, go back to the same place and choose to install again, restart of course. It's not always so useful but it might help. |

Che | Yes, click on start button > go to control panel > Add/Remove Programs > Click on IE 6 > Click on Remove Button > it will ask do you want to remove or Repair > click on Repair Button.
But before doing this you need to have the Operating System Cd with You. |

really peopel ... wise man say better to keep your mouth shut and let them think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt .
by default IE DOES show up in XP . it can be repaired , and sometimes a ie corruption CAN be fixed by an up date . but try this ...
1. The only way to repair Internet Explorer is to have sfc check the system files by clicking on the Start Menu, then Run, and type in:
sfc /scannow
and then click on OK.
2. Another way (which has worked for me):
# Start the Registry Editor
# Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \ {89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
# right-click the IsInstalled value, and then click Modify
# Change the value data, from 1 to 0
# Close the registry editor
# Download and install Internet Explorer 6.
and
The above will let you reinstall the Internet Explorer 6 browser component. To reinstall Outlook Express 6, change the IsInstalled value from the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \ {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}
people who walk around thining they know everythign are begining to annoy those of us that actually do |
