Hello!
I have mcafee internet security 6 on disc. I had just rebooted my computer system completely and was redownloading drivers from websites. When I downloaded mcafee my whole system crashed--I would get a pop-up which stated "Iexplorer caused a general protection fault in module user.exe at 0004:000020c0" or the address is"017f:7ff5027b". I could not open anything at all! I went into safe mode and removed mcafee completely and I had no problems. I retried to download internet security 6 and I keep getting a pop-up that tells me that it has cancelled the download because of a licenseing disagreement?!
I have the program on Cd so I can't download in safe mode. But, I own the disc and no bootlegging what so ever! I think I may have picked up something on the web before I could put in my firewall, maybe spywear, maybe virus, does anybody know what is problem is?

I had a similar issue (blue screens, etc.) with Mcafee (some time ago) on Windows 2000. Called their support. they immediately knew the problem - it can wipe out computers and I had to download a later version from teh internet (needed to get a username and passord to get it).

It was nasty as the blue screen often happened on startup and if you got past that, uninstalling it with no free CPU time was slow and challenging. I was quite horrified that they knew about it yet had not recalled the product from the shelves in shops. I wont touch Mcafe any more
