I turn it on and computer starts working, the lights come on, it sounds ussual, but monitor stays black as if nothing is happening. I turned it off and on many times nothing helps, I also made sure it was connected to the computer (duh).

Does anybody know whats wrong? any ideas how to fix it? Thanks people.

Could be a dead monitor. Either hook up your monitor to another computer or borrow a monitor to hook up to your computer.

Some monitors will display an error message if you disconnect it from your computer and leave it turned on.

If you verify that your monitor is good, the other obvious possibility is a bad video card. See if your video card has an S-Video jack (round). If so, plug in an S-Video cable and connect the other end to a TV. The TV will need to be changed to S-Video using the Input button. Then try your computer.

If you still have no picture at all, pull your video card out and try it in another computer. The results will be obious, it either works perfectly or not at all.

Next step - Start shopping.

Good luck,

I am 100% sure that the monitor works fine.

About the video card, I suspect that my computer has been overheating latelly, could that cause the video card to mess up?
