My desktop works fine with the Motorola SB4100 cable modem. But when I connect it with to my laptop on WinNT 4.0 I don’t know how to set the network connections on that. I have the TCP/IP protocol on my NT machine and it set to 'never dial a connection'.
Any help from your side?

Have you entered the computer name into your computer? It usually begins "CXXXXXX-A". Without that info, you won't have a connection. Check your paperwork from the info or blow a call into your provider, they can easily walk you thru the setup over the phone.

Anytime you move your Cable modem from one PC to the next you must power up your modem. The reason is because the Cable modem is retaining the MAC of the NIC on the PC. To resolve this do the following;
-- Take the ethernet cable from the PC to the Laptop
-- UNplug Coaxial Cable TV
-- Unplug the Cable modem & wait 2-3 mins
-- Then, plug it back in and Ipconfig /renew_all or restart your PC.
