@work with Cisco router
We have the @work Cable Connection with a Cisco router which handles all the IP address translation to our LAN machines, one of which is a web server. The problem is that, I can't get the web server using the domain name or the Internet IP address on my LAN.I can get it by using machine name or local IP address. Also, no problem with the router. Here the Internet IP Address that is on the router, which translates it to the local IP and uses IIS 4.0 on Win NT.
Is there a simple solution?
Thank you
Behind the firewall/router, you can use your local IP Address.
* Install the hosts file in your machine.
* Use a local DNS server.
* Put the web server on the other side of the firewall.
Since you've IIS 4.0, adding the DNS service is possible. It might uses RIP protocol
Thank you.
Since the Cisco router is part of the Cox@work package, I guess this doesn't reflect well on their support because their answer was 'don't know'. I think I'll do the lmhosts solution.
By the way, what is RIP?
