Verizon DSL Connection Problems, please help me.
Hi guys,
I have a problem with my connection at home. I have verizons ADSL service on mt Abit BE6 with PIII 600MHz using NetGear NIC. When I browsing the web It stops after some time and disconnects. Even when I try to ping someone, and the ping gone after 20-30 second. I dont understand whats going on. I know from some other people ,they said me that on Verizon, you may have same problems but then some never get that problem. Some one told me that its a bug in IE 5 but I know folks with IE 4 and it does the same thing.
I have dont know model and a standered Varizons external DSL modem.
Verizon is notorious for DNS problems which causes "freezing" problem. It happens that when you go to ping an address or hit a website, it takes 20-30 seconds for Verizon's DNS servers to respond.
This is the reason why you will get good pinging times. the connection is OK, but it takes a little time for the name to resolve.
You can check this by trying a ping by name and later on by IP address. The ping by IP address should have immediate response whereas the ping by name will hesitate before starting.
