Cable modem & Internet Connection Sharing

At the moment, 3 PCs are set up on a Win98 peer-to-peer network in the same room sharing internet connection using external dial-up modem. I having the cable connections & wants to share internet connection.

Main PC is AMD K6-2 500MHZ with 128MB RAM Win98SE.
Weekest PC is Pentium 100MHZ with 40MB RAM Win98FE.

I have certain problems regarding my network are as under:

Would there be any disadvantages in speed if I use Weekest PC as a proxy server.
With dial-up, AnalogX Proxy was used. Can the same type of software?
Novell 4.1 could be setup on that weekest PC if it is used as the 'proxy server'. Can it be done? Is using of 'proxy server' the right terminology?

Your advice and tips are appreciated.

I would personally look at Linksys router. Go ahead and set up whichever computer you want to setup as server. The speed is not be an issue here. Possible that pull out your NIC and disable file and print sharing before you want to use it.

Its much cheaper than the router since it cost $250 CAD or more for the Linksys. The router is better but if money is an issue.....

10/100 nics cost $18 CAD
5 port hub cost $45 CAD
50' Cat 5 cost $20 CAD

So,finally less than $100 CAD

which is much cheaper then the router.
