"Unable to open socket" error
Hi guys,
This is a stupid question, I want its answer
I have a Win98SE box with a modem, satellite and network card for my internet access. The only networking protocol used is NETBEUI.
I am using a third party program to do the modem sharing - "ishare". Ishare comes in 2 flavours, 98 and NT. The Win98se boxes, it works fine. But I am now trying to connect some NT machines to the same network. Both machines works same as they have full network / disk / file access. But when I try to connect with Internet with ishare, it gives "cannot open a network socket" error.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why? I thnik that it's a protocol issue, but I cant find any answers over the Internet.
Any assistance with this would be most appreciated.
Thanks.
Okay, I understand But I am still confused. Is Win NT needs TCP/IP to connect to a Win98 PC? I have run NETBEUI on 98 clients and server so I can use ishare. Now,I want to run NT machines off my 98 interface, tcp/ip, it kills me every time. How come so far NETBEUI be the only protcol that I have had to use to connect to the internet with 6 machines?
