Assembling my network over Cat 5 Cable, is it a better way?
I got the Cat 5 cable, a crimping tool & Electronic line tester and a plastic roll. I believe its easier way to assemble these cables on my netork. I tried to get all 8 wires lined up perfectly. What is the fast way to do it? Should I think about 4 wires for my home LAN?
Is it possible or not?
Here, I can rip these things on my network.
1) The outer insulation of the wire is good 3 inches and separate its to 4 twisted pairs.
2) Please Un-twist one pair and do not go below the insulation, then straighten it with help of your finger and thumb. It works best by pulling in one direction & then back the other way. You should be able to get the pair very straight. Do this for the remaining 3 pairs.
3) Arrange the wires in the proper order while keeping any crosses over each other as close to the insulation as possible.
4) Give it another pull like you did with the pairs.
5) Cut it all off about 3/4" from the insulation. Now they should stay somewhat aligned while you slide the end on.
It takes some practice, but I've got it down to about 30 seconds per end.
Now You can make wire crimping using connectors. Be carfefull while doing correct crimping at end of wire. Now, Please remove extra outer insulation and straighten the wires and put them in right order & cut off extra wire to the same length as the wires you see in the end i.e. already crimped. Now it is ready for a perfect fit. Now you can use it.
There are stranded cables and solid core. The connectors for stranded will not work well for solid core wire. The connectors for solid will work for both. The stranded connectors have two points that stick into the wire strands. Look from other side to see. Now you can wrap the cable & cramp it.
