Direct cable connection 0n my HOME PCs
Hi,
I recently purchased a new PC and I would like to conenct with my old machine via a cable using parallel port to transfer files using it.
Both PCs using Win 98 2nd edition and I have run direct connection wizard and The network have a host and a guest. I have shared folders on both computers but neither computer is able to communicate with other.
Can anyone suggest any ideas?
Thanks.

One of my friend told me that the NetBEUI protocol is required. When I tried installing it, the system tells me the "NetBEUI cannot be installed with Creative ADSL DE7410 modem. what do I do?
Do you have the right cable connection with these 2 PCs?
You can use it to connect 2 PCs using the parallel cable and also you need to use a special cross-over cable.A regular parallel network cable wont work.
Well, It may use TCP/IP for just manually assign IP addresses for the DIALUP ADAPTER on both machines - try 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. You will have to enable file and print sharing over TCP/IP. Unless you have a dialup networking connection that you use with a modem. If this is the case, you need a 3rd party software package such as Laplink to get the parallel ports connected.
