Hi,
The SMC barricade router can share my cable modem connection without setting up a LAN. The reason for this is because if I set up a LAN, a PC will have access to the Internet & I want to use the other PCs to access the Internet.

What I want is to be able to use any PC at anytime without having the main computer on to surf the net. Is that it done by barricade router?

Please help me on this because I am very confused.
Thanks for your help.

Using such settings the router will maintain the Internet connection at 24/7, even if the other Network computers are turned off. As soon as the PC boots up, they got the Internet connection for ready to surf Internet easily..

Both computers will be able to get access Internet simulataneously. The router uses the IP address that is assigned by your ISP and provide internal IPs to your machines behind it, however the no of PCs are not important.

For surfing and downloading and such, your machines can do that simultaneously with no problems. The only thing is that you won't be able to play intensive 3D games simultaneously. Basically, while using this, the router becomes a server that manages the bandwidth to your network computers. It's a standalone device and when it is turned on and plugged in your computers, the network computers have a Internet connection ready to use for the user..
