Follow this steps to fix error 678 dun problem.
Make sure you are dialing a correct number with regular phone. Also make sure you hear modem tones during dialing. If you hear your modem handshake, and at that error 678 appears then increase the “Cancle Call if not connected” time. Click on Control >> Modems >> Properties >> Connection.

I think this will remove error 678.

Error 678: Solution to my error 678 problem

I had also a problem with error 678, but the only solution that worked for me and i am not kidding is i change my internet service provider.

I dont know why but I honestly would recomment that you find an isp, that you like and try them out and see if that works.

I have a feeling that it might that error 678 might also have to do with a poort network. I am not computer expert on error 678 but i am just sharing my experience on error 678, i hope its help full in your quest to resolve your isp problem.

Also if you want to find an isp then please be sure to check out our very forums main sites Find an ISP

one solution for error 678 is to make sure that you have only one network adapter enabled in the device manager, so check your network adapters and right click the other adapters and disable those. this can do the trick, there are a lot of other ways to cure this problem though Very Happy

Hello Guise,

I have been trying to get my T39M to dial out to my Internet Service Provider directly through IrDA without success.

I also keep receiving the horrible 'error 678: there was no answer'
I am literally sure I have setup all the drivers correctly, but my problem occurs whilst the modem try's to dial out. It displays the number on the mobile phone screen begins to dial for about half a second then drops out and the error 678 message appears.

Please help me fix this problem?
