My ISP support my computer, not just the connection to the Internet.

I have been a 3D North user for about a year now. When I signed up my speed was slow. As I was told when I signed up, "If you have ANY computer related problems CALL!", so I called them. I told the tech that I had a slow connect speed, he explained that connection speed not usually a condition that the ISP can control. He further explained that the problem normally ends up being the wiring in the house. So he asked me to describe the phone wiring from my computer to the wall. I told him it went from the wall to a splitter (One to a phone, and one to a FAX), to the FAX, then to the computer. He suggested that I run the wire from the wall to the computer, out of the computer to the FAX, then out of the FAX to the phone, and thru out the splitter. I went from 24K to 49K just like that.

He mentioned that if people are connecting at a slow rate this was the most common reason, the second being "Line Noise", meaning that the phone company has a crappy connection to your house, and you hear noise on the line.
