I am using Outlook Express for sending and receiving mails. I am using Outlook Express 6. I have a problem in outlook express email. When I try to send email thro Outlook Express it shows an error. Outlook express send the mail but every time I am getting this error :

“The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'abc@xyz.com'. Subject 'Test', Account: 'secondary.xyz.com', Server: 'mail.xyz..com', Protocol: SMTP, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79”

What does this mean? Why outlook express shows this error? I think there is some problem in outlook express. I think the problem may be resolved after downloading Microsoft outlook express in my computer? What do you think? Is it work for me and if yes then please provide me the path from where I can download outlook express 6.

Hi,
I don’t know much about outlook express. I am also using outlook express 6. I think you can find any solution for any kind of outlook express problem if you are going with the following link.

I can see some errors here - mail.xyz..com cannot be valid mail server, but i guess you wrote that as example.

Anyway, Server Error 550 is "550 Relaying not allowed" SMTP error. it means that that mail address you are trying to send to cannot be relayed from this server. This probably happens to you if you are trying to send to SMTP server from another Internet Service Provider.

As SMTP servers usually are not configured to require authentication ISPs block access from all addresses that are not within their own range i.e. that come from other (concurent) ISPs or from the Internet.

Other reasons why relaying cannot be allowed is simply that it is configured like that on the target server.

I had this problem. The work around I used was to switch to Netscape Email Client. However, I found this today and it works.

Outgoing mail needs to be configured with the same username and password as incoming mail see:

Click to select the My server requires authentication check box, which is located in the Outgoing Mail Server properties in Outlook Express.

Tools->Accounts->Mail Tab->Click Properties->Servers Tab
