I have used vonage for a few monts and its aweful. There support is aweful, vonage delievery of equipment is slow, VONAGE IS AN OVERALL RIPOFF, AND VONAGE IS NOT WORTH THE HASSEL IF YOU LOOK AT THE ACTUAL SAVINGS.
VONAGE PLEASE PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR 30 MINUTE HOLD TIMES AND VONAGE PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR POOR DESIGNED & SLOW CONTROL PANEL!!! |

vonage voice mails go to other peopl |

Vonage telephone - VOIP service has one major problem! Peoples voicemails go to someone else. There control panel is not secure or is randomply changes where the voice mail is supposed to be sent.
I love the vonage voip telephone service. Its excellent actually, there support is not that bad from my point of view. But there control panel is aweful and slow, and the vonage voip email voicemail problem is not i do not like.
For those who do not know vonage voip, means basically that you get the vonage telephone service thru your broadband connection such as cable or DSL, and you plug in the vonage voip equipment into the cable connection and all of a sudden you have a telephone number, you have all the same telephone features for free, you have vonage long distance, and this is Vonage.
To be honest I am so excited about VOIP its so interesting how it works, and for those that have a cable connection I suggest trying it out. There are other companies that also offer VOIP service for your home or business. I am sure if you search you will find other VOIP companies other then vonage that are good. But vonage voip is the largest and most well know however. This has become long, i hope it helps. |

Vonage support does suck. I've been trying to call into their support (customer care line) and get a busy signal for ever option i choose except for Sales. The sales department says they can't transfer, which i've never heard of at a call center.
I've also tried submitting requests through their website but no one has ever gotten back to me. The sales manager said that he would send something to support and i'd get an email confirmation and never did.
I'm on hold right now to their cancelation department and have been on hold for 30 minutes so far... i doubt that i will ever get to someone which means i have no way to cancel service except to call my bank and see if i can stop accepting their charges. |

I did it! |
I was in the same position: paying for 3 month for two services because Vonage was unable to transfer my phone number, could not get to a live person at their customer support. Eventually, found a cancellation department number: 1-800-860-5491. It worked fairly well for me. Almost no waiting time, they cancelled my service in two minutes. Cancellation fee was $40 (weird!), but they promised to credit this amount after I return the equipment. No way: in a month after they received my router I stilll did not get the money back. I called them back (this morning) and got my credit (not sure if it really happened, will check my credit card statement in a week).
Anyway, I am so happy my Vonage period is over. |

Can't make calls with Vonage |
| We have not been able to make or recieve calls (about 1 of 20 will get through, but drop out.) for over a month now with Vonage. we have done all the troubleshooting and the router and cable modem work fine. I called numerous times from work since I can't call from home and have not been able to resolve anything with Vonage. We decided to switch back to SBC on Feb. 23, 2005 and still have not been able to because Vonage will not release the line. We called Vonage with a cell phone and were on hold so long (> 45 mins) that the battery went dead. Not tomention the minutes used. Vonage has been totally indifferent and rude concerning this issue. On top of it all, they continue to bill us! |

Vonage = Run Away Screaming! |
| If I could offer advice to the world, it would be run away screaming from Vonage! 'Cause if you don't, you will be screaming in frustration! They don't say on their website that you can't get TiVo series one to work with Vonage. I could not, so I decided to cancel. I have sent cancellation emails every day for almost 2 weeks. Yesterday I called, FINALLY got thru to someone named Fred, who just kept repeating "hello...hello...oh man, hello?". He couldn't hear a single word I was saying! In frustration I was screaming into the phone, "Can't hear me? You must be using your own sucky phone service!". I had to hang up, dial again, waited another 45 minutes, got a guy named Vincent who told me that "The termination lines are experiencing heavy call volume (there's a surprise, huh? lol) and their calls are being rolled over to reuglar customer service lines." He told me they would call me back...yeah, right! I am still not cancelled. The customer service is the worst I have EVER dealt with! I am going to have to go thru my bank to cancel the debits to my account because I can't get cancelled. What is worse, I cancelled on the 14th day from when I ordered, so I should be refunded my whole amount, but I do NOT believe I will ever see this money again. Please people, don't be sucked in by the thought of cheaper phone service like I was! |

How to get your money from Vonage |
| To get satisfaction you'll need to bug the hell out of anyone you can get on the phone at the corporate offices. The CEO is Jeff Citron, 732-528-2600, although you'll get a receptionist. The person who finally did something for me was Dean Harris, Chief Marketing Officer, 732-528-2610, dean.harris@vonage.com. There's also "Melissa" who is part of the executive response team at 732-226-3414. Others in the corporate office are: Mitchell Slepian, Vonage Press Contact, 732.528.2677, mitchell.slepian@vonage.com, Jamie Serino, Vonage Analyst Contact, 732.790.0184, jamie.serino@vonage.com, Kelly Powers, 732.333.1206, kelly.powers@vonage.com. Interesting fact: Jeffrey A. Citron the CEO of Vonage, was indicted for Securities Fraud in 2003. You can read about it & my whole sorry Vonage story at http://damienkatz.net/2005/04/fuck_vonage_1.html |

Vonage |
| This relationship started out very promising. Then when I attempted to have my home phone number ported over, the problems began to surface. After faxing my letter of authorization twice to these bozos, they still kept telling me they had not gotten it. When I first requested the number porting, Vonage began displaying my home number to people I called. I thought this was fine since this number was going to be ported anyway. Vonage also began pointing my virtual number at my home telephone number as well. I thought it was pointing at my Vonage phone number. It has been 2 months now and I cannot get Vonage to stop poiint my virtual number at a number that has been disconnected. Since peple in the area I got my virtual number in can not use it, my daughters are paying to call me again. I have sent emails, tried to call and just can not get in touch with those guys. After about 3 months and I was still paying for 2 telephone services, I told them never mind about the porting and disconnected my home service. I hope this makes sense because I am writing while I am llivid at this company. |

still huge problems with vonage June 1st |
Nothing is getting any better with vonage JUNE 1 / 2005
Still have incredable hold times IF you can get any one to answer at all. 2 days of phone service and then the router craps out. After 120 mins of hold time and Indian techs with very little english trying there best they decide to replace the router but only if I buck up another $99.00. To be credited back when they recieve the returned broken unit.
I wish I had looked at these postings and many more sites like this BEFORE I purchased.

VONAGE GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |
We have been waiting since March 2005 for Vonage to get phone number transfer. We faxed authorization letter 2 times , the 2nd being in May which they said they recv'd. We've gotten 2 emails (after much prodding) claiming they have a tentative tranfer date (subject to change) and have been paying 2 phone bills since march. The phone quality is good and we do call out of the country and it also works fine. Customer service stinks. I would prefer to know the REAL scoop rather than have a generic email sent to passify me. Waiting on the phone is not an option either. Do we cancel and chalk it up to a bad AND expensive mistake? Tomorrow is supposedly a transfer date for phone number. This is the 2nd one. Guess I'll wait til tomorrow and make a decision. Are there ay REAL phone companies anyone would suggest? for a comparable price?
thanks! DDD |
