I'm helping an impoverished friend get on the net. He has a donated computer, an ACER using Win 98 with only 24 megs of RAM. I've tried Crucial, Promise, etc. but can't find anybody who sells RAM for this computer. (whether it's wise to spend any money on this old timer is another topic). There's another problem, he has no credit cards, so must be billed.

Can anybody suggest an ISP that will work? The sales people know whether a credit card is needed, but talking about RAM is another story.

One possibility is an old version of AOL (info from a computerized chat - don't think human beings were involved) but there's an extra $5/mo for billing and I've heard bad stories about SPAM with the older versions of AOL.

Thanks, Jim
