cli.exe - what is cli.exe process removal ?
Question: cli.exe - what is cli.exe process removal ?
I have not noticed 'cli.exe' showing in my Task Manager, under the
Tab "process" header before on my computer, I noticed the 'cli' just now and I am a bit concerned and so I want to know what this 'cli' does and how to remove the 'cli.exe' from my computer ? Also I want to know whether it is a system process or user process and Is it because of some error in any program exe, virus or worm? Please tell me how this file cli.exe showed up and do I need to remove this file ? And is Removal process easy?

CLi.exe
From what i have found, this is an ATI video card and I think the solution is this:
The CATALYST™ CONTROL CENTER requires that Microsoft's .NET Framework Version 1.1 be installed. Without .NET Version 1.1 installed the CATALYST™ CONTROL CENTER will not launch properly, and the user will see an error message as a result.

My solution is....
A part the redundant stupid being of 2 processes CLI.EXE in my taskbar, I also have problem with my firewall when booting windows.
Infact If I'm cutting off the internet connection and restart the system,
the ATI panel/control won't even start (ATI task bar icon)
Here what I got on my firewall panel after having installed the newest ATI crap.
My solution to the problem:
Shut down windows XP
Subst the crap ATI waste with a nVidia card
Switch on PC with a CD or DVD bootable linux media
Destroy all microsoft NTFS / FAT32 partitions and install linux over it
cli.exe is insatelled with catalyst harddrive driver. If you have problem with cli.exe go to control panel and click on Add/Remove program and remove it and restart your computer and then download new driver from ati.com. and you have done
The cli.exe process provides a system tray icon from which you can perform diagnosis on any problems that you are having with your graphics card. If you have an ATI graphics card in the Catalyst range you should leave this process running. It's in C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\CLI.exe. This is part of ATI video card drivers.
Cli.exe is not suspected as virus. This process belongs to graphics card. If you have an ATI graphics card it available in your task manager. You don't remove it. You can continue with Cli.exe, it will not create any problem.

I got cli.exe error massage when I log on to server...
Hello Friends,
When I log on to a server that is running Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004, and then I try to start SNA Manager, I got cli.exe error and also receive the following error message:
The instruction at "0x60b84a7e" referenced memory at "0x0000000c". The memory could not be "read".
Hello, I'm not sure if this is normal or not but i have an Acer travelmate 8200 Laptop and my ATI driver, cli.exe is doing some kind of cycle? Well, it's pretty much causing my computer to lag. When i look at my task manager and sort it by name, cli.exe will show up at least 5 times. At this point i'll be lagging so much that i can barely move my mouse. After a few minutes or so it'll stop and the computer will return to normal operating levels. The processor usage bar, spikes from 1-10% to 40-100% then immediatly drop back down. Even in normal operation (no lag or idle) I'll see the cli.exe three times.
If anyone has a solution to this problem or some kind of explaination it would be great. I tried to contact Acer's support line but they were closed, and I don't think they would've answered my question with and useful information.

Thanks very much for your help!!
The same exact thing is happening to me on the same exact computer [Acer Travelmate 8200]. I don't know how to stop it either, its crazy it eats up the CPU and it allows my media player to skip when Im watching videos, it sux so much!!! What really is horrible on top of that is this CPU isnt acting like its Duo at all especially with this cli.exe crap. I tried to terminate the process quickly but it spikes so fast... comes and goes. Is there a solution to this problem ? Thanx.
