Slower Connection Problem
Hi,
recently I’ve been having these annoying connection problems..
Basically what happens is the connection goes dead...but only the downstream (I’m on 56k) but the upstream is ok...
This happens especially when I’m playing online games, I use V21 and Nil dram...
I can normally play for about 20 mins before the downstream stops...and I have to reconnect.
The strange thing is that this never happened before with windows ME, now i have XP Pro.
Its especially bad after 3pm using V21, usually only being connected for about 8minutes at a time...
I called BT out already, but they said that there is no problem on the line, but its a bit of a coincidence on 2 different ISPs...
The only thing is the when you tried to connect Internet via ISDN at 128k though your ISP. But it did not open anything and i mean nothing not even Internet Explorer.
You have to check dialup settings. Make sure it is at 56k if you are on a modem or 64k if on single ISDN.
when you start dial up again click on Configure and see what speed is set to up.
Also in Security tab, make sure “log on to network” is not checked.
I am using Netspace 512 and happy with the Internet Speed until today but my speed goes down after added WGR614v3 router to my setup.
Is wireless router slows all my computer down? The overall performance has dropped even though 614 has replaced the switch.
Any one knows why this problem is caused?
Wired network is quick compared to wireless. If you are running WEP encryption, as it has to process the overhead associated with WEP, this will slow your wireless link down. My connection is lightning quick when I run a cable connection but when I setup WGR614v2, webpages appear very slow and it also slow up my download speed.
