Also I want to know whether it is a system process or user process and Is it because of some error in any program exe, virus or worm? Please tell me how this file wowexec.exe showed up and do I need to remove this file ? And is Removal process easy?

Hello,

wowexec.exe is not virus or worm. So, Relax guise. It is Windows On Windows Execution process.

wowexec.exe is required by windows and is used to run 16-Bit programs from within a 32-bit version of the operating system.
This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated. Occasionally wowexec.exe will remain in memory after the 16-Bit program has terminated, as windows is waiting for you to start another 16-bit application. If this is the case, you can safely terminate this process as windows will restart wowexec.exe when you next run a 16-bit application.

wowexec.exe is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Windows On Windows Process may adversly impact your system.

I got wowexec.exe is missing on my computer.

When I log on my computer and I’m started to my work, I got following error massage:

>> "$ caused an exception in the Win16 Subsystem
>> Click on CLOSE to terminate the application Click on IGNORE to continue, you should save your work in a new file"

I have tried to start my work after restart 2 or 3 times but I got same message!

I have windows XP SP4 with Norton Antivirus 2006, MS Office 2003, Adobe Photoshop CS and more software installed.

Can anyone help me to fix this error?

Hi Max,

wowexec.exe not dangerous. If you use 16 bits windows programs under 32 bits windows, it is available in your task manager and it is use CPU memory.
But you must end this process from task manager and remove wowexec.exe manually from your computer.
