iexplore.exe - how to remove iexplore.exe process ? |
|
|
Question: iexplore.exe – how to remove iexplore.exe process ?
There was some problem of speed in My Computer, when I was monitoring the Windows Task Manager’s Process List and I found iexplore.exe. Does any one knows about iexplore ? Is it any system process or user process ? I have been using Norton Antivirus and it has not detected it as virus or worm, so is it related to any spy ware? Please tell me how this file iexplore.exe showed up and how can I remove this iexplore.exe process and will it generate any windows error ? Is there any iexplore.exe removal tool or utility available ? |

removal procedures
for iexplorer.exe
Restarting in Safe Mode
» On Windows NT (VGA mode)
1. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. Click the Startup/Shutdown tab.
4. Set the Show List field to 10 seconds and click OK to save this change.
5. Shut down and restart your computer.
6. Select VGA mode from the startup menu.
» On Windows 2000
1. Restart your computer.
2. Press the F8 key, when you see the Starting Windows bar at the bottom of the screen.
3. Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.
» On Windows XP
1. Restart your computer.
2. Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
3. Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.
Terminating the Malware Program
# Open Windows Task Manager.
» On Windows NT, 2000, and XP, press
CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, then click the Processes tab.
# In the list of running programs*, locate the process:
EXPLORE.EXE, IEXPLORE.EXE & rundll32.exe.
# Select the malware process, then press either the End Task or the End Process button, depending on the version of Windows on your system.
# To check if the malware process has been terminated, close Task Manager, and then open it again.
# Close Task Manager.
Delete the following registry values
Go to your registry (start-->run-->enter regedit-->press OK)
Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
and delete the value:
"Userinit"="userinit32.exe,"
Find the following keys:
|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete the value:
"MMSystem"="%Windir%\rundll32.exe "%System%\mmsystem.dll"", RunDll32"
If you're using Windows 9x/Me, click on start, and run. In the Run window, type "Edit c:\windows\system.ini" and press enter. search for: shell=explorer.exe If it is present, and has anything to the right of .exe, delete it. The final line should look like above. click on File, Save, then File, Exit (ALT F S and ALT F X)
Remove the entries in the HOSTS file.
The hosts file is stored under the Windows folder. It Windows XP it's in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc, in Windows 2000 it is C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Etc, and in Windows 9x/Me it's in C:\Windows.
Select everything. Delete all.
Now just enter this one line
"127.0.0.1 localhost" without the quotes.
And save it as the file name "hosts" (no file extention) to the same folder.
Is that all? No it time to ponder
Is it really worth your time and money (you could lose all your money in the bank if your password is compromised) to be worrying about these things?
It is always better to have a software that can protect your computer and you. Spywares are more dangerous than viruses, coz of the simple reason that they steal your information. Your banking account password is much more worthy to them than your computer. And thats what most of them are after. |

iexplore.exe is internet explorer. Try closing your browser then you shouldn't see it in tskmanger. It isn't adware, spyware or a virus. And avoid listening to advice that involves removing key system files in the future.

Despotic attitude from iexplore.exe |
|
|
Hey,
it seems your f_ friend there didn't behave correctly with you and is just trying to sell you some anti-spyware software!
I had exactly the some initial problem as you had. But take careful because some spyware processes use iexplore.exe, which is just the executable file for Internet Explorer, to spread worms. The process iexplore.exe allows other processes to connect to internet. I have a worm in my PC and I cannot remove it due to iexplore.exe process.
The file iexplore.exe normally is in C:\Program Files\Internet Explore\iexplore.exe and it's very, very difficult (I tried many different ways) to erase it. Try just for curiosity to remove it, and some strange process, which I couldn't found brings it back again in less than five seconds.
So, it seems we do not own our PC's, cause we erase something and the OS puts it again!!
If anyone has reliable suggestions on how to definitely remove iexplore.exe I would appreciate them.
Thanks

Hi All,
I’m just post information about Iexplorer.exe here…
Don’t worry about iexplorer.exe. It is not virus or worm. It is part of Internet Explorer Browser. It is the main program that runs Internet Explorer. iexplorer.exe application allows you to surf internet on your computer. So don’t end this process from your task manager.

iexplorer.exe |
|
|
Hi,
Whenever i reboot my pc, iexplorer.exe starts running in the background and it uses half of my CPU.
After full scan of my pc, i found no threat.
Once i delete it from task manager then it don't come again. After whole manipulation, i conclude that iexplorer.exe comes in the picture only when we reboot the pc in normal mode.
Suggest me some solution to fix it out. |

that last bloke was a bit of a.... not going to comment.... anyway. i have found the same problem with my computer. recently trying to delete a virus that norton had detected and couldn't delete. my way of solving the problem was to restart the computer in safe mode and then run a virus scan for it to find the virus and delete it. three problems with that though, being in safe mode, you are unable to connect to the internet, being in safe mode, only the necesscary processes load, therefore, your anti-virus won't load, and third, in some cases, because of your anti-virus needing multiple processes to run corectly, will not work. depending on your virus scanner, you might have diferent ways of fixing the problem. you can run norton antivirus without it comming up for a virus to recognise by going
start --> run --> Navw32.exe
there should be a similar way of doing this with other products. if your virus scanner doesn't come up as there being a virus when you scan or if it does and you still can't delete the file or folder, and you are ABSOLOUTLEY CERTAIN that they are part of a virus, you can restart your computer in safe mode and manually delete it without it comming back. to start your computer in safe mode (the method that I use) you:
FOR WINDOWS XP
click start
click run (or if you're using vista you click on the funny boxy thing and type in there)
type in:
msconfig
hit enter
at this point, you should be very carefull of what you are doing, checking the wrong box or boxes will make your computer fail to start up. these settings are the things that make your computer run when you press the power button, checking or unchecking the wrong boxes can stop your computer from booting up correctly, and you will need to boot off a disk. ONLY tick the boxes that are posted in this comment or you could stuff up your computer and you will have to take it into a shop to get it fixed.
ok so at the moment you should have a box up on your computer that says 'System Configuration Utility' and you should be on the tab 'General' if you haven't already, now would be a good time to get a pen and piece of paper and write all the instructions down, because you wo't be able to access these in safe mode. also, now is the time to save all your word documents, bookmark all your tabs and get ready to restart your computer.
click the tab 'BOOT.INI'
ignore the random words and numbers in the box thing at the top and look down, to the left of the box in blue writing is 'Boot Options' under this is the boxes you want to look at
check box '/SAFEBOOT'
click Apply
it will then close the configuration box and ask you if you'd like to restart your computer. i can't remember exactly what it says off the top of my head, but click the one that restarts your computer now and not later.
after you've done this your computer will restart and on the background it will be black and say 'safe mode' find the file that you know is part of a virus and delete it. (or them if there is more than one) or alternativley you could run a virus scan and leave it till its done and then let it delete the viruses.
to restart your computer in normal mode (again)
click on start
click on run
type msconfig
click the 'BOOT.INI' tab
uncheck '/SAFEBOOT'[/color]
click on 'General' tab
select 'Normal Startup'
click Apply
let it restart the computer
i'll retype it without all the warning stuff so that you can write it down:
start
run
msconfig
BOOT.INI
check /SAFEBOOT
apply
restart
work on virus
start
run
msconfig
BOOT.INI
uncheck /SAFEBOOT
General
Normal Startup
Apply
Restart
if you do not hit apply, nothing happens to the computer. if you want to back out at the last seccond for any reason, just click cancel.
alterativley, you could just check http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001060608000039?Open&docid=2004011415011206&nsf=nav.nsf&view=0 for all the instructions (on how to restart the computer in safe mode)
it also has how to restart it in safe mode for win 98, m.e. and 2000.
there are other methods to stop viruses from working that you know are using a particular process at startup, such as changing the startup settings (using msconfig) so that the virus doesn't start up when you turn on the computer, but i think i've given you enough to read for a few years.... |

| use process.exe find the spy ware iexplore.exe if you deleted the spy ware another program comes up and reopens the spy ware. you have to be quick to get the properties of that program. once you do find the path and delete the program. it shouldn't appear anymore since the program to open the spy ware is gone |
