Question:what is gearsec.exe process ? Is gearsec.exe any virus or worm ?

There was some problem of speed in My Computer, and in the Windows Task Manager’s Process List I found gearsec.exe. Is it any normal system process, error or is it any error exe, worm, virus or any spy ware? It looks to be part of windows process list, but I am not sure and want to remove gearsec.exe Process. Please advise me what should I do and how do I remove this process?

gearsec.exe is a driver used by many programs the only one I can think of that uses it for me is norton.

Hello Users,

Every time, I get following error massages when, I reboot my system.

(1) The instruction at "0x0012e824" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".

The other says the same except it comes up with gearsec.exe saying:
(2) The instruction at "0x0012e86c" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".

I’m using Windows XP SP2 with Macro Media Flash, MS Office 2003, Dream Weaver, Adobe Photoshop CS2 and more software installed.

Can anyone help me to fix this error??

Hi All,

gearsec.exe uses more than 60% of my CPU memory. From last couple of days my system work very slow and when I checked my Task Manager I found gearsec.exe running and using more than 60% of CPU usage. That’s really strange for me. Why this happen to my system? I want to fix this problem. I even can’t end this process by click on End Task.

Please help me!!
