Question:what is wscntfy.exe process ? Is wscntfy.exe any virus or worm ?

There was some problem of speed in My Computer, and in the Windows Task Manager’s Process List I found wscntfy.exe. Is it any normal system process, error or is it any error exe, worm, virus or any spy ware? It looks to be part of windows process list, but I am not sure and want to remove wscntfy.exe Process. Please advise me what should I do and how do I remove this process?

Hello All,

wscntfy.exe uses 100% of my CPU memory. From last couple of days my system work very slow and when I checked my Task Bar I found wscntfy.exe running and using 100% of CPU usage. That’s really strange for me. Why this happen to my system? I want to fix this problem. I even can’t end this process by click on End Task.

Please help me!!

wscntfy.exe is a part of the Microsoft Windows Security system. This process name is Windows Security Center Notification. It displays a tray icon indicating the status of updates, virus protection, and firewall and also outputs the current security status of your computer. wscntfy.exe will not harm your computer. wscntfy.exe is located in your system or system32 folder.

hey he may be right but just dont download exe. files that are small like 100 to 500 kb because they r probably viruses. if u do ur internet security probably wont let u run it. gl

If you know following Services, you don't need that service unless you appreciate these little yellow pop-up messages coming out all the time.

1. Firewall,
2. Windows update and
3. Anti-virus
