Possible solution |
|
|
The message « Managed MAPI Service Catastrophic Failure » appears to come from a wrong configuration from the Anti-Spam feature of Norton internet security.
To test if this applies to you can:
Launch Symantec Internet Security from the “active icon bar” or how ever your PC is setup;
Click the “Norton Antispam” button;
Click on the “Allowed list” link;
Click on the “Configure” button;
Click the “Import Address Book” button;
In doing so you should see the message « Managed MAPI Service Catastrophic Failure » appear …. Answer OK (once or more depending on how many MAPI are wrongly configured)… And the last message would be “Norton AntiSapm did not find any new addresses”; click OK…. And “OK”; And proceed to next step….
To correct the problem you can configure your Anti-Spam and remove unused services:
From the area titled “Email”, click the “Client integration” button;
In this window, make sure only services you are using are checked; (Outlook, outlook express….); Click OK when done;
To test if configuration is correct, click the “Import address book” again, the message should no longer appear; if you have unchecked the correct services… |

I have the same problem, but I don't even have Norton Anti-Virus! Any other ideas? |

I am going to try this when I get home tonight. I just bought a new Dell Notebook. I've had it less than a week and I am getting this message.
I called Dell Support and they have never even heard of it. They told me to call AOL. ugh!!! |

| It is an Outlook problem! Delete the 'Business Manager Contacts' data file and you are smooth sailing. It really is as simple as that. It took me 2 weeks to figure this out. I saw some info on the web that the Busines Manager Contacts feature causes probelms, but not |

I saw some info on the web that the Business Manager Contacts feature causes problems, but not specific to this error message. In my situation, the error DID NOT have anything to do with Norton (Symantec Corporate) on my system. |

I'm getting the same message and I don't have Symantec, |

I have Mcafee. I get this every time I try and send a file via email, that was converted to a PDF.
I have a brand new Dell and so far their support is null and void.
Thanks |

I have the same problem and I don't have Norton, I have McAfee. I looked for this Business Manager Contacts data fil and couldn't find it. I do have Business Manager installed. I did a search on my C drive for "*.BCM" and "*.bcm" but nothing came up. I had "Show all hidden and System files" turned on. Can anyone tell me where to find this file? Or is there anyone else that has found a solution to this problem. By the way when theis Failure message comes up, I click to close it but it comes up again three more time immediately in sequence. Thank you for your help. |

Re: managed MAPI service catastrophic failure please help!!! |

| I recently installed a trial version of Outlook 2003 with business contact manager. when the trial period ended I uninstalled it and reinstalled my previous version of Outlook 2000. Now I get this message Managed MAPI Service catastrophic failure. Could not initialize CLR. the system cannot find the file specified. It seems i still have the business contact manager in there somehow creating this. any suggestion how i can get rid of this problem? |
