Lost DSL connection when the phone rings
Hi. I have SBC Yahoo DSL which I am supposed to be able to use while on the phone. However, if I am online and receive a call.....my connection is lost and sometimes it can take up to 5 minutes to get back. I've contacted tech support once before and they said I might possibly have a faulty filter. I've replaced the filters and checked all my connections to make sure they are as they should be and they are. I've had the service for a while but rarely used the internet while at home. Now that I am using the service more often than before, I've found this to be a problem. I've read the different posts on various sites and have not seen anyone with this problem. Is there anyone out there that has had this problem before or can offer any insight into it?

Re: Lost DSL connection when the phone rings
Definitely sounds like a filter problem... possibly the wrong kind, or not even a filter at all. You shouldn't be losing connection. We have available DSL filters & Speedstream 5100 (SBC/Yahoo compatible) DSL Modems if that doesn't work and you would like to replace it. Call or email me when you get a chance.

Me Too !
I have Bellsouth FastAccess DSL in middle GA. Same problem as you. I loose my connection - the 2Wire DSL Modem broadband link light goes flashing orange then steady green - reconnection takes about 60-90 seconds. I have made the rounds in my house by unplugging each phone and then called the house via cell phone. Each time a call is made or received the results are the same. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING. Everything was OK for several weeks after initial installation. I do have a LinkSys 802.11b wireless router and a 900mhz cordless phone.

get a dispatch
just get one new filter.
unplug all the phones in your house except one.
re-create the problem with the one new filter (maybe try a new phone, too)
call your tech support. they should send out a repairman. this should not be happening.
just be patient with the tech when they try to troubleshoot. you may need to talk to more than one tech. ask for a supervisor if the tech is a moron, though, please, only if they are really a moron.

MTU
The DSL signal giving out may indicate a problem with your line, that you may have an MTU still laying around on it somewhere. An MTU is a Maintenance Test Unit, which your telco probably put in long ago. They used these units for testing the line, but have become obsolete, and interfere with DSL service. Your best bet: Call the phone company and tell them to take it out. If you don't feel like waiting: Open up your network interface box, and cut out the MTU, and just bypass it.
I was also suffering from the same problem. Then I came to know that it was MTU error. I just resolved this problem by bypassing MTU and now every thing is working very fine!
