Wired Broadband connection keeps dropping |
Stupid I know, but someone gave me a "cracked" version of windows xp pro, I have got XP Home Edition, but I liked some of the features of XP pro so gave it a go, however it was a nightmare, it totally f**ked up my computer, wouldn't install my broadband modem and kept going into safe mode. Yeah yeah my own fault I know and served me right, should buy the software properly but don't we all do it at some point...??
Anyway, I did a system restore with the disks that came with the computer, all seems set up ok back to XP Home Edition, except that my broadband connnection keeps dropping every couple of minutes. It is not the broadband modem, as it is working fine on my laptop, there is nothing to indicate the connection has dropped on the modem, pages just show as unavailable. I have scanned the computer for viruses and used hijack this, and its clean. Can anyone help? Thanks, Jake |
