Router problem? |
|
|
My household acquired a new computer recently, and I tried to connect it to our router. I have cable internet and am using a Blitzz Netwave wireless router (but using it as wired, not wireless).
I have two existing computers connected to the router which have been working fine. However, the new computer will not communicate with the router (won't get an IP address, can't access the internet) unless it is the ONLY computer connected to the router. If it is the only one plugged into the router, it obtains an IP address and the internet works fine. If another computer is plugged in, the new computer gives me a "limited or no connectivity" message and it can't connect to the router. I tried the winsock fix for windows xp service pack 2 and that didn't help.
All three computers are running windows xp. I disabled all the firewalls, but no help. I use dynamic IP addresses, but I even tried manually configuring the TCP/IP settings on the 3rd computer. When I did that, the "limited or no connectivity" message went away, but I still couldn't access the internet.
If anyone has any thoughts, I would appreciate it. Thank you very much for your time. |
