belkin wireless router problem

Hi everyone,

Im having a problem with my belkin wireless modem/router. When I switch on my router, I can access the internet via my laptop perfectly. However, If I dont access the internet (any website) for about 5 minutes or so, and then try and access it, I get a message in mozilla firefox saying that the server cannot be reached. My connection from the wireless card in my laptop to my wireless router is working perfectly because although I get this message, I can still access my router settings by calling its i.p. address 192.168.2.1. So therefore Im assuming the problem exists form the router to the internet.

Would I be correct in assuming this? and is there anything I can do to fix this problem or should I just give up and buy a new router?

You may want to check the DHCP settings on the router and whatever modem you are using.

Sometimes if the "modem" is set to be the dhcp server and the router is set to be the dhcp server they time out each other.

I would recommend you disable this on the modem first and see if it fixes it.
