Hi All,
Thought I would pass along something I just discovered.
SIMAP runs great on AMD K6 CPUs. I run BOINC on new and old hardware and have found that my old K6s are generally half as fast as Intels of the same clock speed.
The K6 is in fact too slow for most projects, but not SIMAP.
The K6 is roughly equal to Intels of the same clock speed (about 3 hours per WU for a 450-500MHz CPU). My K6s will now run SIMAP exclusively. It has given new life.
Whatever the K6's handicap is with other tasks, it doesn't seem to apply to SIMAP. So if you have an old K6 collecting dust in the attic, hook it up.
