Changing IP address setting |
|
|
OK, here is the deal. I have DSL service and a home network through a wireless router.
At one point I spoke to someone at Linksys tech support and they helped me change the IP address of my router to 192.168.2.1 and have the IP address of the modem set to 192.168.1.1
In doing this I was able to open either configuration page from a browser by just entering the appropriate address.
Since then something has gone wrong and I am no longer able to get to the configuration of the router. If I try 192.168.2.1 it will eventually error out. If I try 192.168.1.1 I get the modem page. Linksys says my router is no longer under warranty and they won't help me unless I pay $30 for support. Needless to say, I told the Linksys guy what I thought of this and decided against paying for this info.
Maybe someone out there has this knowledge buried in their memory would be willing to share it with me.
Thanks in advance. |
