How Do I Get My FrontPage Web Site Ready for Google? |
|
|
Hi,
There is good tip for you guys,
The great thing is that there are a few simple things you can do to greatly increase your chances of doing well in Google. FrontPage makes doing these things very easy. I recommend you do them today.
I keep pushing this program and will continue to do so but for goodness sake, download Solution-Shelf's Web Site Tune Up Utility and give your Web site the tune up it needs. It is a free product worth at least $100.00. If you wonder what Tom knows about Google, try a search in Google for the following; "frontpage download", "frontpage macro", "frontpage template". The guy is amazing and he offers this program for free.
Next, make sure that your titles in FrontPage are good descriptions of your pages and don't say lame things like "Home". "About" or "Contact." Include your company name in as many titles as possible and include keywords in the title that better describe what your page is about. For example, my title at FrontPage World is "FrontPage World - Web Design with Microsoft FrontPage 2000, FrontPage 2002, FrontPage Training, FrontPage Books, Web Design, Microsoft FrontPage, and E-Commerce," instead of "home" or "FrontPage World." The great thing about FrontPage (2000 and 2002) is that you can change your titles so easily from the Folders view of any directory. Just right-click the title and select "rename." You can rename both the title and the url from this option.
Speaking of changing the url, change your page names to better reflect what your page is about. For instance, instead of "products.htm" I have pages called "webtemplates.htm" and "training.htm." You be surprised how much better Google treats you when you do a better job of explaining to Google what you are about. Again, this can all be done quickly through the Folders view and FrontPage will even re-write all the the links to your new page names on the fly. Let's see those codebyhandsisthetouchofgod types pull off something like that.
Finally, re-submit your Web site to Google at this address: http://www.google.com/addurl.html |

Thanks. Ill have to keep that in mind next time i am trying to create a new site. I am curious why you had to go and say "FrontPage" I mean there are millions of site creating websites and there are companies that offer hosting and html site editors for free too. I think you were just trying to get to the microsoft lovers. O well, those that do not care much for Micro$oft, you can use any type of linux website creating software or apple/mac site creator and you'll have the same benefits as a windows frontpage site.
I personally recommend using dreamweaver over frontpage on windows anyday. Anyways. The company that I was refering that offers html editor with its cpanel account and $50 per year hosting is called vipwh.com go look it up. for all you proper mugs, go to www.vipwh.com
frontpage is okay, but dreamweaver rocks.
peace.. one love.. apple.. |
