Need help setting up my Remote Control

Hello All,

I had my new DVR installed yesterday and I want to set up my remote control to turn on and off by only hitting the Master Power button. However, I must be doing something wrong because it isn't working.
I even followed the directions in the guide. It said to the hit the select button, then 9-9-5 then the TV/ Power button, then the Cable/power button, then select again. But it doesn't seem to be working.
I do turning on the cable button first, then the TV button second, causing the remote to control the TV itself without the DVR box.
To prevent any arguments in the foreseeable future, can anybody possibly help me with this ?
