intel V92 driver -- dead connection |
|
|
hi
i am having some problems with my dial-up connection where my connection simply stops responding after a certain amount of data has been sent/recieved (though it tends to have more to do with how much
when i checked my modem logs this is the error i was recieving just before the connection goes dead:
"Failed to send command because of WriteFile() Failure, Error=000003e3."
i am running windows xp and the modem is an external swann flash modem.
i am using an intel v92 external modem driver, which windows detected for me online. i was previously using an generic ambient driver but this gave the same problem.
because i am having the same problem with both drivers perhaps its not my modem, but a windows security problem? i remember having a similar problem about a year ago and being able to fix it with zone alarm...but now i am running ZA and the sp2 firewall and nothing seems to help.
any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you |

Solve Dial-up problem |

Hi henry,
First thing I'd do is disable the Windows XP firewall. Two firewalls, two antivirus programs, two antispam programs, etc, can end up equating to disaster. Is your modem serial or USB?
Also, here's a v.92 update for your Swann Flash modem
If you feel difficulties, let me know
